What is a mirror lens? +
A mirror lens has a reflective coating applied to the front
surface of the lens. It reflects part of the incoming visible
light away from the lens, helping reduce the amount of light
passing through.
Does Mirror X reduce brightness? +
Yes. A mirror coating can reflect part of the incoming visible
light before it passes through the lens. The final brightness
also depends on the underlying lens tint and its light
transmission.
Is Mirror X the same as polarized? +
No. Mirror and polarization are two different lens technologies.
Mirror coating is a reflective surface treatment, while
polarization uses a filter designed to reduce specific reflected
glare. A lens can have both technologies.
Can a lens be both mirrored and polarized? +
Yes. A mirror coating can be combined with a polarized lens.
In that configuration, the mirror provides its reflective
surface effect while the polarized filter provides directional
glare control.
Does a mirror coating automatically provide UV protection? +
Not by itself. UV protection depends on the lens material and/or
a dedicated UV-blocking specification. A mirror appearance should
not be treated as proof of UV protection. Always check the actual
lens specification.
Does the mirror colour affect what I see? +
The visible mirror colour mainly changes the appearance of the
lens from the outside. The underlying lens tint and its optical
characteristics play a major role in how the view looks to the
wearer.
Can Mirror X be made with prescription lenses? +
Mirror coatings can be applied to suitable prescription sunglass
lenses. The available combinations depend on the prescription,
lens material, design and the specific lens configuration.
Is Mirror X suitable for driving? +
Suitability for driving depends on the complete lens
specification, including its tint, visible light transmission
and filter category. Mirror coating alone does not determine
whether a lens is suitable for driving.
